Music for Toddlers (18 mos-3 yrs)

Toddler Class

These 40-minute weekly classes are geared for your active toddler and you!  Together you’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments, all activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement through four wonder-filled semesters. Each lesson builds on the next and includes movement activities for coordination, body awareness and control, exploration of space, and instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles, drums, and resonator bars. We lay the foundation for music concepts by introducing rhythm and tonal patterns weekly. Home materials are available which include song recordings, a parent activity book, instruments, and scarves to use at home for more fun time together.

Cycle of Seasons (3-5 yrs)

Cycle of Seasons

These 40 minute weekly classes celebrate your child's love of nature and growing independence through activities that focus on the joys of seasons of the year. Classes are designed to build attention span, self-expression, and language development. Components include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, instrument exploration, creative movement, as well as stories for children to act out and embellish. Each class continues to build musical proficiency, adding additional tonal and rhythmic patterns. Home materials are available which include song recordings, a parent activity book, instruments and scarves to use at home for more fun time together.

Music Makers (5-7 yrs)

Music Makers: At Home in the World and Around the World

These 60-minute weekly classes include singing, creative as well as structured movement, playing instruments and ensemble work, ear training and guided listening. This developmentally sound approach to music literacy builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self expression. The children will now be introduced to written musical patterns.

In Music Makers your child will be engaged in activities that establish a solid music-making foundation. This class focuses on your child’s fascination with nature and develops a love of instruments. Your child will be introduced to the sounds of orchestral instruments individually, and then in the context of an ensemble. Such a listening foundation will lead to long-term success with music reading in future classes.
